Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox first released her music on the internet in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time and wanted her to perform on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The official signing ceremony was held by Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video was released on September 5th. On the 9th of November, she released two additional singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On the 13th of November two singles titled The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. This track, which was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than 3 million times in the first 7 days. In December 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
